Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Where are the fuse boxes located in my 991.2 (2017-2018)?
There are two main user-accessible fuse boxes located in the cabin:
Driver’s Side Footwell: Located on the outer wall of the footwell (left side for LHD cars). You must pull off the black plastic cover to access it.
Passenger’s Side Footwell: Located on the outer wall of the passenger footwell (right side). Note: There are also high-amperage fuses and relays in the engine bay and luggage compartment, but these are generally for major systems and not commonly accessed for daily issues.
I cannot find a fuse diagram in my owner’s manual. Where is it?
Porsche does not typically print the full fuse chart in the main owner’s manual. Instead, there is usually a folded paper diagram slotted into the inside of the fuse box cover itself.
Tip: If your paper diagram is missing, check the inside of both the driver and passenger side covers, as it is sometimes misplaced.
Which fuse controls the cigarette lighter / 12V socket?
This is one of the most common blown fuses. It is typically located in the Passenger Side Footwell Fuse Box.
Location: Often found in Row D (the fourth row down).
Fuse: Look for a 20A (Yellow) or 25A (Clear/White) fuse.
Note: The 12V sockets in the center console and the passenger footwell are often on the same circuit.
My PCM (Navigation/Radio) screen is frozen or black. Is there a fuse to reset it?
While there is a fuse for the PCM (often in the Driver’s Side Footwell, Row B or C), pulling it is inconvenient. A “Hard Reset” is usually more effective:
Handover Reset: Press and hold the PCM volume knob for about 10–20 seconds until the Porsche logo appears.
Battery Reset: If that fails, disconnect the negative battery terminal (located in the frunk, under the plastic cowl) for 15 minutes. This clears mostly all electronic glitches.
Can I pull a fuse to keep the Sport Exhaust (PSE) valves open?
Unlike the Chevy Camaro, you cannot simply pull a fuse to keep the valves open on a 991.2 without triggering other errors or affecting other systems.
The “Hack”: To keep the exhaust in “Loud” mode permanently, owners typically disconnect the vacuum lines running to the exhaust valves or unplug the vacuum solenoid connector in the engine bay (requires removing the cooling fans to access).
My power seat adjustment stopped working. Which fuse is it?
If only one function of the seat failed (e.g., forward/back works, but recline doesn’t), it is likely a switch failure, not a fuse.
Common Fix: Check the wiring harness plug underneath the seat. It frequently gets kicked loose or disconnected by rear passengers or objects rolling under the seat.
Fuse Location: If the entire seat is dead, check the Driver’s Side Footwell Fuse Box, typically a large 25A or 30A fuse in one of the lower rows.
